Visit the Picasso museum during your camping holiday
In 1946, Picasso settled in Antibes for a few months to paint. After his stay, the painter left a gift to the town of twenty-three paintings and forty-four drawings.
The following year, on 22 September 1947, the Picasso room was inaugurated on the first floor of the Château Grimaldi in Antibes. His works were hung in the west wing of the castle-museum.
Since then, the latter has continued to enrich its collection, one of the most complete in Europe, bringing together numerous drawings, prints, paintings, ceramics and sculptures by the painter of genius.
In 1966, the city of Antibes once again paid tribute to Pablo Picasso and the Château Grimaldi officially became the Picasso Museum.
The castle also houses exhibitions of contemporary artists such as Klein, Modigliani and Picabia, as well as remarkable sculptures by Germaine Richier and Joan Miro.
