The International Kite Festival of Berck-sur-Mer remains one of the largest kite festivals in Europe. This spectacular event attracts thousands of spectators each year to admire kites from all corners of the world. For its 38th edition, the festival will celebrate America, from North to South, with cultural performances and unique shows. Kite flyers from Colombia, as well as countries like Quebec, Brazil, and the United States, will offer the public a one-of-a-kind experience.
The Magic of the Festival
From April 12 to 21, 2025, the sky over Berck-sur-Mer will light up with exceptional kites in unique shapes and colors. Kite flyers will present fascinating performances to the rhythms of salsa, samba, tango, and country music. A new feature of this edition will be the Colombian Pavilion, offering a true immersion into a typical street of Cartagena, Colombia.
An Immersive Journey to the Heart of Cartagena
Step into a new world! The Colombian Pavilion will be one of the major highlights of the 2025 edition, promising to offer a unique immersion into a typical street in Cartagena. You can stroll through a colorful and festive atmosphere, with a display of Colombian kites, kite-making workshops, tastings of local specialties, and much more.
The pavilion will also be a lively place where you can enjoy Colombian coffee while watching salsa demonstrations. You’ll have the chance to take photos with angel wings or pose with a group of palenqueras, women in traditional costumes. It’s a true immersion into Colombian culture, with a joyful and warm atmosphere.
A World Record Attempt
One of the highlights of the 2025 edition will undoubtedly be the world record attempt for the simultaneous flight of whale-shaped kites. 15 kite flyers from 7 different countries will try to make 20 whale kites fly, some of which will measure over 30 meters in length! A thrilling challenge that is sure to captivate all spectators, uniting kite enthusiasts from around the world for this spectacular feat.
A Festival for the Whole Family
The 2025 International Kite Festival of Berck-sur-Mer isn’t just for kite enthusiasts; it’s also an unmissable event for the whole family. Here are some of the activities you shouldn’t miss:
- Aerial Ballets by the Best Kite Flyers: Every day, individual pilots, pairs, and teams with 2 or 4 kites will perform choreographed aerial ballets to music. These performances, combining creativity and skill, will offer breathtaking aerial feats!
- The Gargantuan Multicolored Turbine: At Berck-sur-Mer, you can step into a gigantic spiral of colors and let yourself be swept away in this visual whirlwind. Feel the sensations! Enter the huge multicolored turbine slowly to experience the swirling elements, or run through it for maximum thrills. And of course, don’t forget to take a photo inside to capture this unique moment!
- The Fireworks Show: To close the day, an enchanting fireworks display will light up the sky. For fifteen minutes, time will stop as spectators are swept away in a sparkling whirlwind. Various scenes, alternating emotions and rhythms, will be accompanied by music, creating a magical sensory experience. A unique moment you won’t want to miss!
- Kite-Making Workshops: For the young (and the young at heart!), kite-making workshops will be organized. Passionate instructors will teach children how to make their own kites. Once finished, they can take part in a free kite-flying lesson to see their creation take flight!
- The Gardens of Éole: A Wind Garden on the Sand: Never seen before! On the beach, a team of twelve landscapers has created ephemeral artworks by recycling materials such as bottles, paper, and plastics. Hundreds of flowers, watermills, animals, and characters will come to life in the wind, creating a true wind garden on the sand. A fascinating collective work of art to explore!
