Mobile homes, comfortable accommodation
A small holiday home to feel at home in the heart of nature
There's a reason why, of all the accommodation offered by a campsite, the mobile home is the most popular! The mobile home is the ideal accommodation, a real little house that combines comfort, simplicity and privacy while respecting the natural setting of outdoor holidays as you experience them at a campsite.
When it comes to comfort, a mobile home guarantees that you'll have functional facilities on site, including sanitary facilities for your family: shower, toilet (in the bathroom or separate), sink for washing up, as well as basic equipment such as crockery and cooking utensils. Finally, to make your stay easier, more and more campsites are offering an 'end-of-stay cleaning' package.
From standard to Premium mobile homes, a range to suit your needs
There are different ranges of mobile homes:
- Standard mobil-homes: with their classic, functional layout, these are the most affordable mobile homes to rent.
- Comfort mobil-homes: with their practical features and pleasant decor, you'll feel right at home.
- Premium (or luxury) mobil-homes: recent, very well equipped (dishwasher, air conditioning, mood lighting, etc.), using more noble materials and contemporary furniture that fits in perfectly with the layout (corner sofa, etc.), the mobile homes in the Premium range offer you a luxurious holiday setting. They are generally located in upmarket areas of the campsite, with exceptional landscaping.
- Luxe +++ mobil-homes offer you a private swimming pool, Jacuzzi or hot tub on the terrace, large picture windows and hotel-quality bedding. More spacious than the standard mobile home, they offer you a new holiday experience - a unique break from everyday life.
How many bedrooms are there in a mobile home?
Your needs will differ whether you're going as a couple, with your family or with friends: standard mobile homes can have from 1 to 3 bedrooms, but you'll now find mobile homes with from 4 to 6 bedrooms, ideal for large families.
- Rooms are available with single beds or bunk beds, and are ideal for children.
- Each mobile home has at least one bedroom with a double bed and storage space.
As well as bedrooms, mobile homes often have a sofa bed or a sofa that can be converted into a bunk bed. Make sure you check the number of bedrooms when you book, so you don't get the surprise of finding that in a 6-person mobile home, 2 of them will be sleeping in the living room.
When it comes to bed linen, you'll need your own sheets, pillowcase and duvet cover to stay in a mobile home (only pillows and duvet or blanket are included). However, some campsites will offer you linen included in the rental price, and in some others you can hire sheets. This is ideal for travelling light. Some campsites even offer a "bed made on arrival" package.
How are the living room and kitchen laid out in a mobile home?
The mobile home's communal area starts with a kitchen area (sink, storage space, crockery and kitchen utensils, microwave oven, hob, coffee maker or kettle in the standard version... or more depending on the mobile home's equipment).
The mobile home also has a lounge and dining area, with at least one sofa or benches, a table and chairs. For your information, this dining area is often less spacious than the one fitted out for the terrace. After all, on a weekend or camping holiday, you're supposed to live outdoors, aren't you? And too bad if it's pouring rain that day and you're stuck in your mobile home...
Depending on the standard of your mobile home, this seating area will have a television or even a home cinema, and the more luxurious your mobile home, the more comfortable it will be.
Does a mobile home always have a terrace?
The terrace of a mobile home is often defined as the extra room that allows you, in the summer months, to enjoy family meals or moments of relaxation outside. However, not all mobile homes have a terrace.
There are different types of terrace for mobile homes:
- The covered terrace is topped by a canopy or pergola.
- The uncovered terrace does not provide shelter from the sun or a possible shower, but is usually accompanied by a parasol...
- Mobile home terraces are generally fitted out with a table and chairs for meals, sometimes with deckchairs, and can even go as far as the lounge area with a sofa, comfortable armchairs and cushions, real garden furniture for moments of outdoor relaxation...
- Continuing on from the mobile home, the terraces are generally bordered by a wooden fence or delimited by plants (trees, bushes), for maximum privacy.
If you don't have a terrace, you can still enjoy an outdoor area on your pitch, where you can relax on the lawn or in the shade of the trees.

Year-round mobile home rental
How do I rent a mobile home at a campsite all year round?
Would you like to have your main residence at a campsite and live in your mobile home? As a matter of principle, this is prohibited in France.
On the other hand, you can have your second home on a campsite. In this case, you buy your holiday home, a mobile home for example, and rent the plot on which your accommodation will be built on a year-round basis.
Can I live in a mobile home on my land?
Well, no! By law, mobile homes can only be installed in residential leisure parks, holiday villages or campsites. It is therefore strictly forbidden to install a mobile home in your own garden.
On the other hand, you can use a mobile home as your main residence on your plot of land. In fact, many local authorities allow this in response to the housing crisis.
However, you must comply with the following conditions:
- You must live in your mobile home for at least 8 months of the year for it to be defined as your principal residence.
- Your plot of land must be suitable for building and serviced
- The mobile home must be installed in accordance with the rules set out in your commune's local town planning scheme (PLU), which you can request from the town hall.
- If the surface area of your mobile home is less than or equal to 20 m², you must submit a preliminary works declaration to your local council. If the surface area exceeds 20 m², you will need to apply for planning permission.
