The highlights of Lac du Der, to discover during your camping holiday

One of the largest artificial lakes in Europe, created in 1974, the Lac du Der-Chantecoq is now part of the natural landscape of the Marne. You'll always be amazed by the colour of the water, which changes from blue to turquoise depending on the season and the weather, and by the sometimes three-hundred-year-old oak trees in the surrounding forests that are reflected in the water, contrasting magnificently with the colour of the lake. The Lac du Der-Chantecoq also has a clever way of combining business with pleasure. It was built to continue irrigating the rivers in dry periods, to supply the Seine and to prevent flooding, but what a pleasure to enjoy this immense expanse of water for leisure activities too! Walks around the lake, canoeing, swimming, relaxing on the beach... Did you know that a Lake Marathon was organised at Lac du Der? The lake is also the scene of many festivities.
