A department in the Occitanie region, Haute-Garonne is a festival of changing landscapes, such as the mountains of the Pyrenees contrasting with the plains of the Lauragais and the hills of the Comminges. There are also many religious monuments to explore and the towns that house them, such as Toulouse, the pink city and capital of the Haute-Garonne, known for its festive atmosphere. A camping holiday that promises to be rich in discoveries!

The must-sees of Haute-Garonne

Prefecture of the department, the pink bricks of its monuments give Toulouse an undeniable charm. City of Art and History, it is also known for its dynamism and its festive atmosphere. But do you know the Cité de l'Espace? It is a theme park and a scientific culture centre on aeronautics and astronomy. You can experience a rocket take-off, see a life-size replica of Ariane 5 or the Soyuz spacecraft, experience astronaut training or even walk on the moon in a simulator... An unprecedented experience that transports!

A medieval town in the middle of the green hills of the Comminges and a stopover on the route to Santiago de Compostela, the village of Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges is perched above the Garonne valley, earning it the nickname of the "Mont Saint-Michel of the land". Renowned for its Sainte-Marie cathedral, its sumptuous Romanesque-Gothic architecture, Renaissance stained glass windows and 16th-century organs deserve special attention, as does its cloister, the highlight of the show. The architecture of the rest of the village is exceptional with a citadel and its ramparts which house half-timbered houses dating from the 15th and 16th centuries.

For nature lovers and hikers, the Pyrenees mountains are a succession of magnificent, steep, unspoilt landscapes in which to find peace and relaxation. Here, you can explore a wild territory made of high altitude lakes, waterfalls like the Oô lake located at 1500 meters, or the Lys, Pique and Oueil valleys. Even higher, for the most courageous, you can reach the Perdiguère peak which culminates at more than 3200 metres.

The lake of Saint-Ferréol is located at the foot of the Montagne Noire in a preserved forest setting and is ideal for water sports and swimming. Created as the main water reservoir for the Canal du Midi, this exceptional site is very popular. It is indeed an ideal place for relaxation and leisure with family or friends during your holidays in Haute-Garonne.
