The treasures of Balagne...

The Balagne region of Upper Corsica was once called "the garden of Corsica" and is known for its villages perched high in the hills. It abounds in palm trees, olive groves and fig trees... Enough to whet your appetite with the scenery alone!

Located under the Cap Corse, Calvi is the capital of the Balagne region. Famous for its charming marina, the town has an important cultural heritage thanks to its citadel built by the Genoese and overlooking the sea, but also the church of Sainte-Majeure, its naval district where you can find cafes, restaurants around the port and a very pretty beach of fine sand. The visit ends with an extraordinary view of the bay of Calvi from the Notre-Dame de la Serra chapel. Calvi is also one of the most beautiful marine sites in Corsica.

Historical capital of the island of Beauty, the town of Corte is one of the oldest Corsican cities. Located 70 kilometres from Bastia, the Gaffori square, the church of the Annunciation, the old Genoese houses, give the old town an authentic style. There is no lack of cultural and tourist sites here. Below the town, the Tavignano and the Restonica are two valleys which promise unforgettable bathing in rivers as well as magnificent hikes.

Close to Ile Rousse, the village of Sant'Antonino is part of the association of the Most Beautiful Villages of France but it is also one of the oldest. Situated at an altitude of more than 500 metres, it is also, it seems, the only one that can be seen from anywhere in the Balagne. Climbing to the top allows you to discover the remains of the medieval castle as well as an exceptional panorama of the sea, the valleys of the Balagne, Calvi and Ile Rousse.

... and those of Cap Corse

A long mountain range in the north of Corsica, the Cap Corse is that famous ridge that stands out on a map. It is a succession of wild landscapes with picturesque villages and steep cliffs. It is the perfect place for hiking along the customs path of the cape and for strolling along the seaside.

Classified as a city of Art and History thanks to its rich religious heritage, Bastia is also the Prefecture of the department. You must see the Market Square and its old houses, the very lively Saint-Nicolas Square, with its palm trees and its terraces on the side of the old port. The church of Saint Jean-Baptiste, the Genoese citadel of the Terra-Nova district, the old buildings and the narrow streets, which give it a charm like no other.

Overlooking the Mediterranean, the village of Nonza is an ancient medieval stronghold and classified. Installed in eagle's nest hung on the cliff. Its paoline tower built in green schist is registered with the Historic Monuments. A real little jewel of typical Corsican architecture, it is a village that lives mainly from tourism today. The Santa Ghjulia fountain is a curiosity to see with its reputation of miraculous waters. Its location on the central ridge of Cape Corsica makes it a "classified" fauna and flora, a real paradise for hikers and nature lovers.

Seaside resort of the Cap Corse and ancient city of Gennois, Saint Florent is famous today for its beaches and its pedestrian paths, in particular the path of the coast of Agriates located between the desert of Agriates and the sea, promises a very beautiful course. A beautiful view of the citadel and the coloured houses awaits you from its jetty. In summer, you can enjoy a very pleasant atmosphere on the quays of the marina where cafés and other restaurants are installed.
