Very close to Pontgibaud and its medieval castle of the Dauphins d'Auvergne, it is the commune of Saint-Ours-les-Roches that welcomes Vulcania, in the Puy-de-Dôme department. You have to dig deep into the bowels of the earth, as the complex is buried to blend into the landscape. Share emotions and discoveries that are amusing or spectacular, thanks to films, shows, fun and interactive experiences. In addition to the volcanoes, the Earth as seen from space and the natural phenomena of our planet (earthquakes, eruptions, hurricanes, avalanches, floods, etc.) are also on show.
Vulcania is open from July to early November. After the visit, you will be able to learn all about the history of volcanism, so you are ready to go and survey some of the 80 volcanoes that rise in the Auvergne around Aurillac and Clermont-Ferrand. Also enjoy good moments of relaxation towards the lakes, thermal baths and waterfalls.
