Campsites in the Vosges Massif

As there is no shortage of addresses on the slopes or in the valleys, as you can choose from almost 140 campsites in the Vosges massif.

We particularly recommend the campsite Domaine Les Bans **** in Corcieux, in the Vosges. This campsite, set in 35 hectares of unspoilt countryside, has a water park that will be loved by all the family.

We suggest you stay at the Seasonova les Vosges du Nord *** campsite in Oberbronn (Bas-Rhin), with almost 250 pitches and rentals. It is located in the heart of the Vosges du Nord, north-west of Haguenau near Niederbronn-les-Bains. Open from March to the end of October, with a pool and wellness complex.

All year round, in the Vosges, near Gérardmer, the 200 pitches and rentals at the Domaine de Longemer campsite ****, in Xonrupt-Longemer, nestle on the edge of a superb lake at an altitude of 750 m. There's also a swimming pool and fitness area.

In the southern Vosges, choose Les Ballastières *** campsite in Champagney in Haute-Saône. With its hundred or so pitches, this campsite is situated on the banks of the lake of the same name, an opportunity to enjoy a swim on the lake's beach or to choose the campsite's outdoor swimming pool.

Discover the Vosges Massif during your camping holiday

Hills, valleys, forests, lakes and peaks of the Vosges massif

From balloon-shaped valleys, passing through thirty or so pretty lakes, linked by panoramic roads, astonishment and diversity can be appreciated at every turn. So much so, that you will have to come back several times to get the measure of it. From the mountainous part, 14 peaks over 1,000 metres high emerge, culminating in the Grand Ballon (1,424 m). About twenty ski resorts offer you activities and entertainment in summer and winter.

Immense forests cover more than half of the Vosges massif, particularly on the western slopes bordering the Lorraine plateau. This is the kingdom of pines and firs, but also of many venerable trees, home to the lynx, chamois, capercaillie and an abundance of wildlife. An alternation of quiet valleys, springs, waterfalls and singing torrents enliven the massif. A constellation of parks and theme gardens add their colours.

Two regional nature parks ensure the protection of these exceptional places: Vosges du Nord and Ballons des Vosges.

A hiker's paradise

More than 18,000 km of footpaths criss-cross every inch of the Vosges massif. This range of leisure activities is complemented by cycling circuits on quiet tracks and small roads, aimed at families and enthusiasts alike.

The Vosges massif is a prime destination for hikers, with a multitude of waymarked trails, set in varied landscapes and panoramic views. Discover the Crêtes des Vosges, the Sentier des Roches and the Hohneck - the 3rd highest peak in the Vosges. Spend 2 to 3 hours doing a loop around the Lac Blanc and Lac Noir or climb the Grand Ballon, the highest peak in the Vosges!

Half-timbering and exceptional heritage

From the German border to the gates of Colmar and Belfort, the main tourist towns in the Vosges mountains are Thann, Munster, Saverne, Gérardmer, Guebwiller, La Bresse, Riquewihr, Ribeauvillé, Remiremont, Wissembourg, La Petite-Pierre, Saint-Dié-des-Vosges. While castles and military forts occupy the heights, magnificent flowery and historic villages flourish below. A colourful festival organised around prestigious religious buildings, often built of sandstone.

The arts of fire are perpetuated around glass, crystal, earthenware and pottery. The Vosges mountains preserve the great tradition of embroidery, textile weaving and fabric printing. Do not forget the talent of the craftsmen, turned towards wood, iron, paper, to be admired in many ecomuseums.

Emblematic wines and cheeses

In the Vosges massif, the vines are concentrated on the eastern side, on the steepest foothills that dominate the Alsace plain, with dozens of excellent appellations. To be explored on the famous Alsace Wine Route. The generosity of the grass and the flora of the pastures also makes it possible to produce tasty cheeses. Share the conviviality of the farm inns of the Vosges Massif, with tasting of soups, cold meats, fish from the rivers, accompanied by berries, fruits, wines, beers, liqueurs, brandies, mineral springs of the best vintage.
