Camp near the Palace of Versailles

In the department of Yvelines, about twenty kilometres west of Paris, this great palace is on a par with the splendour of the Sun King's court. Louis XIV spent considerable energy and fortune during his long reign. He called upon the greatest artists and architects to transform a modest hunting lodge lost in the marshes into a prodigious castle, envied by all Europe.

Around thirty campsites near Versailles provide quick access to the château. Open from April to October, with its heated swimming pool, the Huttopia Versailles *** campsite is located just a few minutes from the château, with nearly 200 pitches, including chalets, cabins, trailers and tents. All the rest of the year, you can stay at the Paris campsite **** in the Bois de Boulogne. With a high level of comfort, it has more than 400 pitches and about a hundred rentals, on the banks of the Seine near the Bagatelle park and the Longchamp hippodrome.

Today you visit the most emblematic of the 2,300 rooms and salons of the Palace of Versailles, with highlights including the opera house, the Royal Chapel and the Hall of Mirrors. Stroll through the vast estate of over 800 hectares, designed by Le Nôtre, with its park linked to the gardens by the perspective of the Grand Canal. Always in activity, ingenious and spectacular water jets recall the sumptuous festivals of yesteryear, where dance, music and costumes produced incredible colourful sarabandes.
