What to see in France

Clères Zoological Park, Seine-Maritime

The zoological park of Clères is entirely dedicated to the protection of rare or endangered birds and mammals.

Visit the zoological park of Clères during your camping holidays

Created by the ornithologist Jean Delacour who bought the Clères estate in 1919 to develop his passion for zoology, botany and ornithology, the Clères zoological park is classified as a natural site. The seventy-hectare park extends over the grounds of a Renaissance-style castle and a manor house. Many species usually absent from European zoos can be observed: 1,300 birds of two hundred different species frolic in semi-freedom in huge 3,800 m² aviaries, and one hundred and twenty mammals threatened with extinction in their countries of origin are grouped together. The visit is pleasant and is accompanied by white peacocks and cranes. Unusual! There is also a magnificent botanical park with rare species. A very complete visit, therefore, here at the zoological and botanical park of Clères, between animals, English-style gardens and sumptuous 12th century buildings.
