Visit Sylvanès Abbey during your camping holiday
Located in the south of the Aveyron, Sylvanès Abbey was built by the knight Pons l'Héras. It was then abandoned and bought back and completely restored by Father André Gouzès and the current director Michel Wolkowitsky in 1975.
Today it is the seat of a renowned cultural centre, offering spiritual and artistic courses. You can admire the abbey church and the cloister gallery during your visit. The well-preserved monks' scriptorium and the chapter house bear witness to monastic life in the Middle Ages. The state of conservation of the complex is due to the policy of safeguarding the abbey, initiated thirty years ago by associations and the public authorities.
In July and August, guided tours are available by reservation.
From 14 July to 28 August, the International Festival of Sacred Music - World Music takes place. In over 45 years of existence, what was initially a simple summer event to draw attention to the abbey, a major heritage site in Aveyron, has become one of the most important musical events in the Occitanie region.
