Visit the castle of Peyrepertuse during your camping holiday

The castle of Peyrepertuse owes its name to the man who lived there during the crusade against the Albigensians: Guillaume de Peyrepertuse. It has belonged to France since 1240. Built in the 10th century, it is called "the celestial Carcassonne" because of its high walls merged with the rock. Along the vertiginous cliffs, some people practice climbing. Three walls enclose the ruined buildings, witnesses of the past power of the Cathar kings. From the top of this citadel, you have a magnificent panoramic view of the vineyards. And you can also watch the falconers' show at the castle (in July and August).

We have selected campsites in Duilhac sous Peyrepertuse to help you organise your camping stay in the Aude and the visit to Peyrepertuse castle.
