Discover the Roque Saint-Christophe fortress during your camping holiday
The first traces of human habitation date back 55,000 years. Later, these shelters were also very useful for protection from Viking raids or fighting during the Hundred Years' War. The terraces, which can be seen on five different levels and on which one can walk today, were dug out naturally by the river and the frost. Today, they offer visitors a magnificent view of the valley. A city and then a fortress in the Middle Ages, this rock is one of the most important historical sites in the Dordogne. You can visit the troglodytic dwellings and watch animations explaining the construction of the medieval city of La Roque Saint Christophe right on the cliff (workshop for lifting building materials). Finally, you should know that it has been one of the most visited sites in the Dordogne for several years.

Open all year round, except on 25/12.
Opening hours: 10 am to 5 pm in January, 10 am to 6 pm in February, March and from October to 11 November, 10 am to 5:30 pm from 12 November to the end of the Christmas holidays, 10 am to 6:30 pm from April to 6 July and from 30 August to 30 September, 10 am to 7:30 pm from 7 July to 27 August.
Ticket office closed 45 minutes before closing time.
