The Loire River rises at its foot. It also marks the dividing line between the waters that flow towards the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. At 1,551 metres, the peculiarly shaped summit of Mont Gerbier de Jonc makes it famous. It is a real natural treasure and offers a superb view of the Alps, the Rhône Valley and the Cévennes. This 360° view opens onto a magnificent landscape.

There are many beautiful walks to discover in the area, and a guided walk on the "sentier de la source de la Loire" is also offered by the tourist office. From Easter and throughout the spring, traditional events are organised on the Gerbier de Jonc.

It is the most important tourist site in the Ardèche after the Ardèche gorges. It has also been listed since 1933.
