What to see in France

Grignan Castle

Built in the 12th century on a rocky outcrop in the Drôme Provençale, the Château de Grignan is the largest Renaissance palace in south-eastern France. From its terraces you can enjoy a 360° panorama of Provence.

Visit the castle of Grignan during your camping holiday

The Château de Grignan became the luxurious Renaissance residence of the Count of Grigny François Adhémar de Monteil in the 17th century. His wife, Françoise Marguerite de Sévigné, was the daughter of the famous Marquise de Sévigné, known for her letters.

Destroyed after the Revolution in 1793, the castle was rebuilt and furnished identically at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, it can be visited and its façade, a fine example of Renaissance architecture in the region, can be admired. The terrace of the castle offers a beautiful view of Grignan and the lavender fields surrounding the town. Every year in July and August, visitors can enjoy nightly shows, plays and concerts in the castle gardens.
