Discover the quarries of Lumières during your camping holiday
Situated in the middle of the Alpilles mountains, which offer a magnificent panorama, it is a unique exhibition space since the limestone quarries of the Val d'Enfer are used as a support for the works. Images are projected onto the dazzling white stone, with different themes depending on the exhibition. In 2016, the cathedral pays tribute to Chagall. The works of the famous Russian painter, who became a naturalized French citizen at the age of 50 and ended his life in Les Baux de Provence, illuminate the limestone galleries in the manner of stained glass windows, projecting an explosion of colours and reliefs. Other painters from other eras have come to enliven the walls of the Cathedral: Van Gogh, Cézanne, Michelangelo for a wide variety of subjects: Memories of the Circus, "The Gold of the Alpilles", "Alexandria" and many others. In 2022, discover Venice and Yves Klein.
A surprising universe for those who like to see life in colour. Finally, you should know that the site was called Cathedral of Images until 2012.

The Carrières des Lumières are open every day.
Opening hours: 10 am to 6 pm in January, November and December.
From 9.30 am to 6 pm in March.
From 9.30 am to 7 pm in April, May, June, September and October.
From 9.30 am to 7.30 pm in July and August.
Last entry 1 hour before closing time.
Prices 2022: Adult: €14.5, Child (7 to 25 years): €12, Senior: €13.5. Free for children under 7 and PRM.
