Does a 4-star campsite have to have a swimming pool?
False: Campsites are classified according to the standards set by the decree of 11 January 1993. These standards concern the quantitative aspect of the facilities. The stars therefore relate to the nature and number of facilities: so many showers or toilets for so many pitches (e.g. 16 washbasins in a cabin for 80 pitches in a 4-star campsite). On the other hand, the standards do not take into account qualitative criteria. A 4-star campsite -or whatever it is- is not required to have a swimming pool, a restaurant, a mini-golf course...
What level of comfort is required for these campsites?
The comfort of a mobile home varies from one model to another, and even from one campsite to another. At the very least, you will find a fully equipped kitchen, a fridge, hotplates and crockery. The oven is not always provided, nor is the garden furniture. But the level of comfort can also be high: double glazing, heating, air conditioning, ceramic hobs, flat screen TV, internet connection... Everything has to be paid for, and the best models are mostly found on large plots of land ****.
